I’ve always thought that the iPad should be an ideal place to teach kids the motions involved in handwriting— and I’ve finally found the applications with everything I want. 
The L’Escapadou IOS writing apps (available in manuscript and cursive) offer a few fonts to choose from, force the child to follow the correct path for letter formation, and make it easy for parents to upload their own lists of words.
Best of all, my daughter finds it really appealing— which is saying a lot since she usually detests any computer program that attempts to make her trace a letter at all.
The company also has some other great apps including a crossword puzzle style spelling game and a numbers app.
